What is Mycospor (Bifonazole) used for?

Mycospor (Bifonazole) is a topical anti-fungal medication prescribed to treat athlete`s foot. The cream slows or stops the reproduction of fungus cells allowing the immune system to control and eliminate the infection. Your doctor may prescribe this medication to be used along with others to get the best results or to treat other unlisted conditions, as well.

How should I use Mycospor (Bifonazole)?

Always use Mycospor (Bifonazole) according to your doctor`s instructions to get the safest and most effective results from treatment. One daily application is normally recommended to the affected area, but your directions will depend on the severity of your condition. Always thoroughly rinse and dry the area before each application to remove any dirt or loose skin. Once the skin is dry apply a small amount of cream, gently massage it into the skin, and leave the area open to the air to allow any excess medicine to evaporate. Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water after each use to prevent the medicine from contacting the mucous membranes or other areas not being treated.

What are the side effects of Mycospor (Bifonazole)?

The use of Mycospor (Bifonazole) may cause side effects in some patients such as:

  • Mild stinging or burning sensations
  • Mild redness or irritation
  • Dry skin that is peeling or flaking

Stop using the cream and contact your doctor as soon as any serious or worrying side effects occur including severe pain or burning sensations, thinning skin, easier bruising, severe swelling, or signs of an allergic reaction such as hives, severe rashes, or trouble breathing. These conditions may require lower doses, reduced application frequency, or emergency medical attention in serious cases to prevent further health problems from occurring.

Please Note

Mycospor (Bifonazole) should not be applied to skin that is severely broken or damaged. This medication is only meant for external use and should not be used to treat infants with nappy rash, scalp infections, nail infections, vaginal thrush, or patients who are allergic to antifungal medications. You are also recommended to inform your doctor of any other chronic health problems you have that may cause complications to ensure the correct adjustments are made to your treatment.

Strictly use this medication as prescribed and follow all instructions provided by your doctor. Safe, suitable, and optimum dosage can vary and is dependent on the patient`s health and medical history, as well as the condition you are treating.

Mycospor (Bifonazole) may not be safe or suitable for all patients. Always ensure your doctor is informed if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, using any other type of medication (including non-prescription medicine, vitamins, and supplements), as well as if you have any allergies, other illnesses, or pre-existing medication conditions.

Seek immediate medical attention or proceed to your nearest accident and emergency department if you suffer a hypersensitive or allergic reaction. Symptoms usually present during a reaction of this nature include difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling of the limbs or face, tight chest, hives, and skin rashes.
