What is Duovir (Lamivudine/Zidovudine/Nevirapine) used for?

Duovir (Lamivudine/Zidovudine/Nevirapine) is an oral antiviral medication prescribed to treat patients with hepatitis B or who have HIV. The medication slows the reproduction of virus cells making it easier for the immune system to control the infection. Your doctor may also prescribe it to be used along with other medications to get the best results from treatment.

Duovir (Lamivudine/Zidovudine/Nevirapine) is normally prescribed to be taken once or twice each day, but your individual instructions will be determined by your doctor based on your age, weight, health condition, and the severity of your symptoms. These should be swallowed with a large glass of water and may be taken on an empty stomach, although a meal or snack is recommended prior to use if you experience nausea. Do not split or crush the tablets prior to use as this may destroy or alter the effects of their contents. It should be noted that this medication will not cure the infection and is only meant to control the infection. Ask your pharmacist or doctor any questions you have about the medicine to ensure the correct usage.
