What is Hostacycline (Tetracycline) used for?

Hostacycline (Tetracycline) is an oral antibiotic prescribed to treat patients suffering from acne, cholera, tetanus, or bacterial infections of the skin, lungs, or eyes. It operates by slowing or stopping the reproduction of bacteria cells making it easier for the immune system to control or eliminate the infection. Your doctor may also prescribe this medication for the treatment of other unlisted conditions.

How should I use Hostacycline (Tetracycline)?

Hostacycline (Tetracycline) should always be used according to your doctor`s instructions to get the safest and most effective results from treatment. The normal dosage is one tablet administered two or three times each day for a cycle of medicine lasting one or two weeks, but your particular instructions will depend on your age, weight, health condition, and the severity of your symptoms. These should be swallowed with a large glass of water and may be taken on an empty stomach, although a meal is recommended prior to you use if nausea occurs. Never split or crush the tablets before use to avoid destroying or altering the effects of their contents. Do not stop using the medication before being told to do so, even if your symptoms seem to have disappeared, as it may not be completely destroyed and may return stronger or more resistant to treatment.

What are the side effects of Hostacycline (Tetracycline)?

Hostacycline (Tetracycline) may cause side effects in some patients such as:

  • Mild nausea or vomiting
  • Upset stomach, diarrhoea, or constipation
  • Sores or white patches appearing in or around the mouth
  • Sores or swelling affecting the genital area
  • Vaginal irritation or discharge

Serious side effects that may require immediate medical assistance are severe headaches, fever, flu symptoms, sensitive skin, easier bruising, severe skin rashes, darkened urine, discoloured stools, or jaundice. Tell your doctor about any worrying symptoms you experience to make sure the correct adjustments are made to your dosage or application frequency to prevent further health problems from occurring.

Please Note

Do not begin using Hostacycline (Tetracycline) if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, if you have porphyrias, reduced kidney function, or if the patient being treated is under the age of twelve. Also disclose if you have myasthenia gravis, lupus, decreased liver function, or if you are taking other medications have side effects on the liver. These conditions may cause unexpected health problems requiring adjustments to your regimen.

Strictly use Hostacycline (Tetracycline) as prescribed and follow all instructions provided by your doctor. Safe, suitable, and optimum dosage can vary and is dependent on the patient`s health and medical history, as well as the condition you are treating.

Hostacycline (Tetracycline) may not be safe or suitable for all patients. Always ensure your doctor is informed if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, using any other type of medication (including non-prescription medicine, vitamins, and supplements), as well as if you have any allergies, other illnesses, or pre-existing medication conditions.

Seek immediate medical attention or proceed to your nearest accident and emergency department if you suffer a hypersensitive or allergic reaction. Symptoms usually present during a reaction of this nature include difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling of the limbs or face, tight chest, hives, and skin rashes.
