What is Dostinex (Cabergoline) used for?

This product is manufactured in Turkey.

Dostinex (Cabergoline) is a dopamine receptor agonist prescribed to treat patients with elevated levels of prolactin. The medication operates by reducing the amount of prolactin released from the pituitary gland to prevent symptoms associated with this condition such as halted lactation, disturbed menstrual cycles, or benign tumours affecting the pituitary gland. Your doctor may also prescribe it to treat other unlisted conditions.

How should I use Dostinex (Cabergoline)?

Follow your doctor`s instructions while using Dostinex (Cabergoline) to get the most effective results. One tablet is normally administered twice each week, but your individual instructions will depend on your health condition and the severity of your symptoms. These doses should be swallowed whole along with a large glass of water to aid absorption. Do not crush, split, or chew the tablets before use as this may destroy or alter the effects of their contents. Your doctor may also prescribe it to treat other unlisted conditions.

What are the side effects of Dostinex (Cabergoline)?

Dostinex (Cabergoline) may cause side effects in some patients including:

  • Headaches
  • Drowsiness or dizziness
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, or constipation
  • Flushing
  • Numbness or tingling sensation

More serious side effects that may require medical attention are fatigue, decreased urination, trouble breathing, chest pain, unusual swelling, faintness, or muscle pain. These conditions may require a reduced dosage or frequency of application to prevent further complications from occurring.

Please Note

Dostinex (Cabergoline) should not be used to treat patients with scar tissue affecting the heart, hypertension, a history of post-partum depression, or decreased kidney function. Also inform your doctor if you have hypotension, peptic ulcer, cardiovascular disease, porphyrias, fibrotic disorders, history of mental illness, narrowing of the blood vessels in the hands, or cardiovascular disease. These conditions may cause complications during treatment requiring reduced doses or other adjustments to your regimen.

Strictly use Dostinex (Cabergoline) as prescribed and follow all instructions provided by your doctor. Safe, suitable, and optimum dosage can vary and is dependent on the patient`s health and medical history, as well as the condition you are treating.

Dostinex (Cabergoline) may not be safe or suitable for all patients. Always ensure your doctor is informed if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, using any other type of medication (including non-prescription medicine, vitamins, and supplements), as well as if you have any allergies, other illnesses, or pre-existing medication conditions.

Seek immediate medical attention or proceed to your nearest accident and emergency department if you suffer a hypersensitive or allergic reaction. Symptoms usually present during a reaction of this nature include difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling of the limbs or face, tight chest, hives, and skin rashes.
